WHO WANTS AN IFR RATING?

Any pilot interested in becoming a better and safer pilot who is ready to conquer the fascinating world of flying in an Air Traffic Controlled environment. Not only will it create a greater satisfaction after every flight, it’s the gateway to the future, and lets be frank, who wants to be left behind! After all you owe safety to yourself, your passengers and your fellow pilots.

WHO NEEDS AN IFR RATING? Interested in pursuing a career as a pilot? Well, then it’s a must. And how about all other pilots, who understand the ever changing weather conditions can let them be stranded for days at a time? Never mind the urge we all have to be a better and more confident pilot.

HOW TO BEGIN IFR TRAINING? - You must have a Private Pilot Certificate
- hold at least a 3rd class medical Certificate
- have flown at least 40 hrs cross-country
  as Pilot in command.

THE TRAINING PROGRAM: We are committed to give you the best possible training tailored to your very own needs. A time tested curriculum will allow you to learn quickly and efficiently at your own pace. With the use of our AST Hawk simulator you will be immediately introduced into IFR flying fast and cost effectively.

FIRST STAGE OF TRAINING: With the use of our simulator you will learn the basic skills to control the airplane only by reference to instruments. At the end of stage one you know what it takes to fly in Instrument meteorological condition, or, in short “IMC”.

THE SECOND STAGE: In this stage you will be introduced to fly the various instrument approaches, such as ILS VOR’s and NDB’s, as well as holding patterns and their entrance procedures. At the same time you learn how to operate in the ATC System.

THE THIRD STAGE: Now you will learn how to plan and execute an IFR cross-country flight, consult for weather briefings, collect all other data to make an informed decision of go/nogo. You will execute different approaches at different airports without ever looking outside, using all available radio aids such as VOR’s, NDB’s and GPS.

REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE THE FLIGHT TEST: After you have completed all stages you will have received training and endorsements in accordance to CFR 14 # 61.65, and you must have passed the written test.
